Birth Certificates

The Charlotte County Tax Collector's Office can now issue certified copies of Florida birth certificates to eligible individuals in our Englewood location.

Obtaining a Birth Certificate

To obtain a birth certificate in our office you must:

1. Meet one of the following criteria:
  • Be the child named on the certificate AND 18 years of age or older
  • Be the parent listed on the certificate
2. Provide information about the child named on the certificate
  • Full name of child at birth and any subsequent legal name changes
  • Date of birth
  • City or county of birth
  • Mother's full name including maiden surname
  • Father's full name (if listed on birth record)
3. Provide information about the person ordering the certificate
  • Full name
  • Relationship to person named on the certificate (father, mother, self, etc.)
  • Mailing address
  • Daytime contact number
  • Signature of applicant
4. Provide valid picture identification. Acceptable forms include:
  • Driver license or ID Card
  • Passport
  • Military ID
  • Resident Alien Card
  • Certificate of Naturalization
  • Inmate ID
  • Pilot's License
  • Concealed Weapons License
5. Submit applicable fees
